About the Author

Esther M. Sternberg, M.D., is Director, Integrative Neural Immune Program, National Institute of Mental Health, National Institutes of Health.

She was trained in rheumatology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada and practiced medicine in Montreal before returning to a research career and teaching at Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
She is frequently interviewed nationally and internationally in print, radio and television media on topics related to the science of the mind-body connection, how stress makes you sick and how believing can make you well.
